Haberdashers’ Adams’ badminton players have dominated the inter-schools competitions this winter. After winning the Telford competition in December they added to their prize haul by also taking the County title in two age groups.
The county finals were held at Shrewsbury’s Sports Village; with winning teams from the five other areas of the county there was fierce competition for the titles. After some great displays of badminton the Adams teams took the titles in both age categories dropping just one game out of the five played in each match. The under-14 team of Roshan Prakash, Vignesh Sudarsan, Rohan Vallabhaneni and Sankeerth Reddy took the Key Stage 3 title while their older compatriots James Phillips, Aditya Viswanath, Kayban Abraham, and Jorge Moore took the Key Stage 4 title for pupils aged 16 and under.
Newport’s senior school pupils appear to have a talent for Badminton with all of the titles going to the town’s three secondary schools. Burton Borough’s girls took the Key Stage 4 title while the team from Newport Girls’ High School claimed the Key Stage 3 prize.
