The Edgmond Lion Pub, is up for sale and the local community are coming together to secure a possible future in the village.
As a designated Asset of Community Value the village has an exclusive right to bid for it until 26 August 2021.
The campaign group, "the Lion Roars Again", have already made a good deal of progress and are gaining much support. There is much work to be done and the group are eager for more volunteers.
After some very well attended public Zoom meetings a drop in session was held outside the pub to discuss the plans on Saturday 22 May.
Richard Pearson of the group said "people have been incredibly generous with their financial pledges and in volunteering their time and expertise; they want this to happen, and quickly!"
Allan Wilson, Chair of Edgmond Parish Council said "It would be great to get the pub back open and better still if , as planned, it offers other locally desired services".
The team are keen to get help from a national organisation, The Plunkett Foundation, who advise community groups on how to create sustainable pubs.

BBC Radio Shropshire is featuring the campaign at 11.15am on Friday 28th May.
