Newport Food Frenzy For 2022 Under New Management

Author | 08 August 2022

Newport’s popular food and drink festival returns “bigger and better” for 2022. In previous years this event has been organised by Newport Town Team’s Mike Atherton and Karen Woodcock, after 6 years of organising the Food Frenzy Mike and Karen felt the time was right to pass on the mantle.

Paul Sydra and his team had expressed an interest in taking on the event, great news for Newport and the event. Paul and his team took over the planning and organisation of the Food Frenzy at the beginning of the year.

Paul and his team have plenty of event experience as they organised the wonderful Newport Carnival earlier this year, craft fairs and celebration events for Newport. Mike and Karen commented that they were very pleased that Paul and his team will be taking such a fabulous event forward for Newport.

Whether it’s making food, selling food or simply tasting food, this is sure to be an event that will captivate the interest of food lovers.

Over 50 stall-holders have signed up for the event which takes place between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm on Saturday 24th September 2022! The event includes a range of food and drinks related activities including a variety of food & drink vendors, food related competitions, street entertainers, an ale trail, and much more.

Stallholders will be selling a variety of artisan foods including breads, cheeses, preserves, oils, cakes, pies & pizza, fruit & vegetables, as well as an excellent choice of local and regionally brewed beers, ciders, wines, gins & rums. If you like variety in your diet get ready to eat from an international selection of hot & cold foods including the best of British, Asian, French and African cuisine.

This event is FREE to attend and is taking place on-street in St. Mary Street, Lower Bar, and High Street in Newport with road closures between the Island by the Shell Garage and the Library.

As last year Haberdashers Adams School has kindly agreed to host the food theatre where food demonstrations, culinary talks and cookery competitions are taking place.
