Handmade in Britain
World class British stoves from Newport based
ShropshireHeat.co.uk“Handmade In Britain “ and a “warm family welcome”
is why we are drawn to one of our favourite stove
manufacturers, Town and Country fires. The company
was founded in 1977 by the Thurlow family as a way
to diversify from farming. The business has grown
over the years and now employs over 20 local men
and women in the Yorkshire town of Pickering, where
they develop and manufacture all their stoves.
The process of making their stoves starts with a flat
piece of steel, and from the moment the steel enters
the factory, that’s when the journey begins. From
laser cutting, to precision bending, to welding, each
stage of stove building takes a huge amount of time,
effort and pride to make, assemble and forward to
their customers. With over 80% efficiency on some
models, these truly are world class stoves.
This season has seen the development of 2 new
models with the options of brass or stainless steel
fittings or log stores.
The Saltburn is a great addition to the range. It is a
modern looking 5kw stove with a retro feel, built with
highly advanced technology.
The Langdale is a new innovative designed stove
which is very controllable with a
great clean burn system. The
2 side glass panels allow
the flame to be viewed
from 3 sides.
We have a selection
of
Town & Country
fires
on display, plus a
working Little Thurlow
so please pop in.

Community choir celebrate
Sing4Fun, a community style choir in Newport, run by Heather and
Dale Kynaston, recently celebrated it’s 1 year anniversary with a party.
The mixed voice choir started on September the 11th
2014 and now has a steady membership who meet
every Thursday, at the Burton Borough School from
7.45pm to 9.30pm and enjoy each others company
whilst singing rock and pop songs from today and
times gone by.
The evening at the newly refurbished Burton Borough
School was attended by 60 of the choir members
and some family and friends. Entertainment was
provided by “The Travellers”, Barbershop quartet and
by Dale himself.
Earlier in the year, the choir managed to raise over
£200 when they sang and fronted a tombola stall
at the Newport carnival. The decision on which
charity to make the donation to was easy, as one of
the choir members, Helen Watts, has a degenerative
sight condition, so, “
Guide Dogs for the Blind
” was
the obvious choice. Cyril Plant and Pat Grainger from
Guide Dogs for the Blind, came along with Tilly (the
Guide Dog in training) and gave a short talk about
the charity and how the donation will be used.
Newport’s’ Nova FM were also in attendance to
interview several members during the evening and
will be broadcasting the interviews in the next week
or two.
