Letter to the Editor
A surprise email landed on the All About desk
recently from Canada. “I am planing to visit
Newport in early September with my daughter
and granddaughter. Can you help?“
This lady found us on the first page of Google,
and contacted us from there. We answered all her
questions. Her response “This will help me on my
visit to Newport. Thank you ever so much”.
Glad we could help.

Looking Good
It seems it’s time for everyone to start improving
and painting the outside of the shop premises.
Currently we have Sally’s Flowers, Toggs and
Cloggs and Clarkes Pharmacy in the process of
decorating.
Many others have been completed and are
looking good. With all this redecoration and the
fabulous hanging baskets, planters and mini
gardens around the town, Newport looks fantastic.
A Sad Loss for the Town
The Newport Advertiser has recently relocated
it’s office and staff to the Ketley office (Shropshire
Head office). The building is due to go up for sale.
Interesting fact: It’s suggested that the earliest
recorded copy of the Newport Advertiser was
September 5, 1837.
Building for Sale
The former Britannia/Co-op Bank premises is up
for sale in Newport High Street.
